Rich Pyrah led a spectacular Yorkshire fightback on day two of the Roses match with Lancashire at Headingley.
The hosts had slumped to 45-8 but Pyrah (117) put on 154 with Ryan Sidebottom (52) for the ninth wicket to push them to 239 all out.
Kyle Hogg took 5-62 while Tom Smith and Sajid Mahmood each took two wickets.
Lancashire, dismissed for 328 in their first innings, then slipped to 33-3, with Tim Bresnan (2-18) excelling after being left out of England's Test side.
Bresnan, who was named in the 12 for this week's first Test with India, returned to Headlingley after being left out on Thursday morning at Lord's, with Stuart Broad retaining his place in the England side.
The visitors began the day on 304-7 in their first innings but Ryan Sidebottom (4-68) and Ajmal Shahzad (3-61) made sure they could only add 28 to their overnight total.
Hogg ran riot in the early stages of Yorkshire's innings and took the first five wickets to fall, with only two of the home side's top eight managing to reach double figures.
But it all changed when Pyrah and Sidebottom came together and their stand of 154 was the highest of the match so far.
After Yorkshire were dismissed for 239, Bresnan, who replaced first-class debutant Iain Wardlaw, saw off Lancashire openers Paul Horton and Stephen Moore.
The visitors increased their lead to 122 runs by close with seven second-innings wickets remaining.

"Lancashire looked set to secure themselves a huge first-innings total on day two but Pyrah and Sidebottom had something to say about that.
"A returning Tim Bresnan (19 not out) then played a cameo with the bat but it was his fearsome bowling that had Lancashire in a spot of bother at the end of the day, as Horton, Moore and Brown all struggled against the England paceman.
"Shahzad picked up the wicket of Brown, but only after a unplayable over from Bresnan softened the Lancashire batsman's sturdy resolve.
"Day three could be vital, the morning session specifically. If Lancashire can post a lead of 300 this will be close. If Yorkshire can hold them to less than 200 the White Rose men wil be well in the driving seat."
