Batting 'let us down', says Guernsey cricket captain

Guernsey captain Stuart Le Prevost has said the side's batting display was to blame for their exit from the ICC European Division One tournament.

The Sarnians lost to Denmark in the semi-finals, with only three Guernsey players scoring more than five runs.

Victory in that match would have secured the side a place in the 2012 World Twenty20 Global Qualifier.

Le Prevost said: "It's been the story of the week, our batting has let us down, we've only fired once."

He added: "[Reaching the qualifier event in] Dubai would have been great, but we're going to Malaysia [for the World Cricket League Division Six tournament] later this year so we'll pick ourselves up and keep going."

Guernsey will face Kuwait, Nigeria, Fiji and fellow Channel Islanders Jersey at the event, which will run between 17-24 September.
