Seamer Tim Groenewald has signed a new three-year contract with Derbyshire, keeping him at the county until 2014.
The 27-year-old arrived at the County Ground from Warwickshire in 2008 and has so far played 30 first-class and 61 limited overs games for the club, taking a total of 164 wickets.
Derbyshire head coach Karl Krikken said: "Tim has been a real leader for us with the ball this season.
"I'm delighted he will be with us for another three years."
Krikken added: "To become a consistent performer with the ball in all forms of the game is an excellent achievement and it makes Tim a valuable commodity for us going forward."
Groenewald, who has taken 32 wickets in the County Championship this summer, added: "I have really enjoyed playing my cricket for Derbyshire and I'm delighted to be here for another three years.
"There are a lot of talented young cricketers at the club and I'm excited about playing alongside them and working towards a successful future."
