Nottinghamshire are still in relegation danger - Newell
Director of cricket Mick Newell says Nottinghamshire's victory against Lancashire does not ensure their Championship Divison One place.
The defending champions now go to Durham next week, in a game that Newell expects to present a tough challenge.
"We're not safe from relegation by any means," he told BBC Radio Nottingham.
"It's important that we consolidate a bit. It'll be a difficult game for us without probably our best two English players."
Notts, who are now 45 points clear of the bottom two, will be without Alex Hales and Samit Patel, who have been called up for the Engand Lions to face Sri Lanka A.
Reflecting on his side's victory over Lancashire, Newell still believes Nottinghamshire can influence the outcome of the County Championship title.
"I don't think this was a game that we were favourites for by any means," he added.
"Lancashire have been playing excellent four-day cricket and they're going to have an interesting race between them, Durham and probably Warwickshire to win the Championship.
"It was nice to throw a spanner in the works here."
