Seam bowler Tony Palladino has signed a new two-year contract with Derbyshire.

The 28-year-old had one year to run on his existing deal but will now stay at the County Ground until the end of the 2013 season.

Palladino, who joined the county from Essex ahead of the current season, said: "Coming to Derbyshire has been an excellent move for me.

"It has been enjoyable playing regular first team cricket, bowling plenty of overs and taking wickets."

Palladino, who has taken 37 first-class wickets this season, added: "I'm very happy to have signed an extension, I believe the team is moving in the right direction and I hope to spend a long time here at Derbyshire."

Head coach Karl Krikken said: "Tony has led the way with the ball this season, always brimming with energy, running in hard and regularly taking important wickets.

"His performances have been excellent and he is well on the way to a 50 wicket campaign which is the benchmark for a successful season as a bowler."
