Derbyshire will begin the final day needing another 80 runs with eight wickets left to complete victory over Gloucestershire at Derby.
The visitors had resumed on 7-1 and looked poised to set Derbyshire a bigger target as Kane Williamson (75) helped them to 220-4.
But Mark Turner (4-79) sliced through the lower order as Gloucestershire were dismissed for 302.
Wayne Madsen and Chesney Hughes fell to Jon Lewis as Derbyshire closed on 30-2.
