Northants stretched their lead in Division Two as they finished off Derbyshire by 165 runs at Chesterfield.
After failing to win in three days on Friday, Northants were delayed by the Derbyshire tailenders for a further half hour on the final day.
Jon Clare and Tony Palladino took their overnight partnership to 57.
But David Lucas bowled Palladino for 28 before James Middleboook got the final wicket, leaving Clare unbeaten on 50 as Derbyshire were bowled out for 267.
