Chris Taylor's final day century saved the game for Gloucestershire against Essex at Colchester.

After resuming on 243-4, Essex added another 41 to declare on 285-5, Jaik Mickleburgh finishing on 84, setting Gloucestershire 385 to win.

Essex were scenting a win to push into serious promotion contention when they had the visitors 98-5.

But Taylor (103no) and Will Gidman (57no) shored things up in a 133-run stand as the visitors reached 231-5.
