Wicketkeeper Geraint Jones has been appointed as Kent's new vice-captain.
The former England wicketkeeper, 35, will take over from Martin van Jaarsveld, who has stood down to concentrate on his batting.
Jones will captain Kent in Tuesday evening's CB40 match at Hove against Sussex as skipper Rob Key has been ruled out with a wrist injury.
"I am delighted to take on the role of vice-captain and consider it a great honour," said Jones.
"I very much look forward to assisting Keysy in leading the side."
Van Jaarsveld added: "I want to concentrate on my batting.
"I have enjoyed captaining the side in Rob Key's absence, but I would like to focus on scoring runs from now."
"I remain totally committed to Kent and hope we continue to finish the season well."
Kent's next home game is Friday's now sold-out 50-over clash against the Indian tourists at Canterbury.
