A devastating spell of bowling from Chris Wright and Keith Barker saw Warwickshire secure a crushing innings-and-58-run victory over Yorkshire.

Resuming their first innings on 340-6, the Bears reached 482 all out thanks to Shivnarine Chanderpaul (192) and Barker (85).

That gave them a first innings lead of 185 and Yorkshire were soon in trouble on 5-2.

Wright (5-28) and Barker (4-56) eventually dismissed them for just 127.

It completed a fine all-round performance for Barker, who took four wickets in Yorkshire's first innings and then built a 119-run partnership with Chanderpaul that put the Bears in a position of strength.

After Chanderpaul's departure, Barker added 75 for the eighth wicket with Neil Carter (40), piling further pressure on the Tykes.

And it was not difficult to see why Yorkshire are staring relegation in the face as they produced a miserable batting performance on a pitch that appeared to offer little for the bowlers.

Jacques Rudolph fell to Barker for a duck with the fourth ball of the innings and that set the tone as their top order capitulated.

Anthony McGarth and Greg Balance also failed to score, while Joe Root mustered just seven as the home side were reduced to 46-6.

The tail offered a little more resistance but the end came in the 38th over when Carter bowled Steven Patterson.
