Rain wrecked Middlesex's hopes of victory in the Division Two top-of-the-table clash at Northampton as the entire final day was washed out.
After enjoying a 203-run first innings lead, Middlesex had a chance to bowl out the home side and eat into their lead at the top.
But, instead, they had to settle for a draw, making up just three points on the second division leaders.
Middlesex are now 18 points behind Northants, but with a game in hand.
They play again next Tuesday, against Leicestershire at Lord's, while Northants return to action a day later agains third-placed Surrey at Wantage Road.
POST-MATCH VIEWS
Middlesex centurion Dawid Malan told BBC Radio London 94.9:
"I've been hitting the ball well all year. I've just finally been able to get a couple of scores behind myself to be honest. I'm happy I am cashing in when I get a start. It's been either nothing or lots.
"This is the toughest season of my life so far in any form I've played so I found it quiet tough but I've got through it, so hopefully I can continue to score runs and finish the season on a real high.
"It was my day. Tomorrow could be someone else's day. I'm just lucky and happy to be playing at the moment."
