Batsman Wayne Madsen has signed a new three-year deal with Derbyshire.
Madsen, who began his professional career in his native South Africa, made his debut in July 2009 and has scored 3,664 runs in all competitions.
The 27-year-old's second innings total of 170 not out against Gloucestershire saw him break the club's record for the highest score by a debutant.
"I am delighted to commit to Derbyshire. We have played some really good cricket in 2011," said Madsen.
The Durban-born opener had signed a two-year contract extension in October 2010.
