Wicketkeeper Steve Snell has been named in Somerset's 15-man squad for the Champions League tournament in India.

Snell has been out of contract since his release from Gloucestershire last season but has recently been playing for Somerset as casual cover.

He has been drafted in to replace Jos Buttler and Craig Kieswetter who both miss two qualifying games in Hyderabad because of England Twenty20 duty.

Ireland's George Dockerell will also be unavailable for the qualifiers.

However, if Somerset progress through to the second phase of the competition, all three internationals will be allowed to re-join the county side at the expense of Snell, Lewis Gregory and Max Waller.

Gemaal Hussain is still in the process of obtaining a visa to play in India but Chris Jones is available to deputise should it not be granted and Roelof van der Merwe will re-join as their second overseas player.

Somerset start the tournament on Tuesday against Auckland Aces.

Somerset squad: A.Barrow, N.Compton, A.Dibble, J.Hildreth, G.Hussain, M.Kartik, S.Kirby, C.Meschede, A.Suppiah, A.Thomas (capt), P.Trego. R.van der Merwe, S.Snell (wkt), L.Gregory, M.Waller.
