Steve Kirby relishing Somerset Champions League chance

Kirby joined Somerset after stints with Yorkshire and Gloucestershire

Somerset bowler Steve Kirby says he is eagerly anticipating their forthcoming Champions League Twenty20 matches.

Kirby's side face qualifiers against Auckland Aces on Tuesday before taking on Kolkata Knight Raiders on Wednesday.

The 33-year-old told BBC Somerset: "I'm really looking forward to it, it's going to be a great tournament."

The county is looking to bounce back after Saturday's defeat by Surrey in the CB40 final followed their loss to Leicestershire in the FL t20 final.

Kirby added: "The first game is going to be a big one.

"I know the lads will all pick themselves up because we have got a team of champions."
