|Royal Challengers Bangalore 206-6 (20 overs) beat Somerset 155-6 (20 overs) by 51 runs|
Somerset suffered their first setback in the Champions League Twenty20 as they crashed to a 50-run defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
West Indian opener Chris Gayle crashed eight sixes and four fours in his 86 off 46 balls as the hosts ran up 206-6 in Bangalore.
But, despite 58 in 38 balls from Peter Trego, Somerset fell well short on 155-6.
Trego had earlier taken some tap, his three overs going for 50.
Somerset's hopes of reaching the semi-finals remain alive, but, following Saturday's rain-off against South Australia, they must now beat South African side Warriors in their final group match.
After being put in at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Gayle was well supported by Virat Kohli as the Challengers piled into the spinners in particular, Murali Kartik's three overs going for 34, while George Dockrell shipped 28 from his two overs, but Trego suffered the worst of the battering.
He responded with a big-hitting half-century, taking 24 off one over from Gayle as Somerset went down fighting, while Craig Kieswetter made a brisk 26 before he and Roelof Van der Merwe fell in the same Daniel Vettori over.
