Former Australia Test opener Geoff Marsh has been named as the new coach of Sri Lanka.

The 52-year-old has signed a two-year contract and replaces Rumesh Ratnayake, who took charge of Sri Lanka for their recent home series against Australia.

Marsh played 50 Tests and 119 one-day internationals for Australia between 1985 and 1992.

The former Australia and Zimbabwe coach became head coach of IPL side Pune Warriors India in June.
