Derbyshire will host the touring South Africa team in a two-day match at the County Ground in August 2012.
World stars such as Graeme Smith, Dale Steyn and Jacques Kallis are all likely to be in the touring party for the game on Friday, 10 and Saturday, 11 August.
Chairman Chris Grant said: "We are naturally delighted to host such prestigious international opponents.
"Our players will benefit from testing their skills against some of the world's best."
The South Africans, currently ranked the second best Test side behind England, will use the game as preparation ahead of the third and final Test at Lord's - which starts the following Thursday.
Grant added: "Our supporters will have the chance to watch these players in action at the County Ground and there are also commercial benefits from hosting such high-profile opposition during an exciting international summer."
