Glamorgan have appointed all-rounder Jim Allenby as their Twenty20 captain for the 2012 season.
Wicketkeeper Mark Wallace has already been named as Glamorgan's skipper for their County Championship Division Two and Clydesdale Bank 40-over teams.
But the Welsh county have broken from tradition and named a separate leader for their Twenty20 campaign.
Allenby, who was shortlisted to succeed Alviro Petersen as Glamorgan captain, has also been named club vice-captain.
"There were some promising signs in our Twenty20 games in 2011, several of which went to the final over," said 29-year-old Allenby.
"I look forward to building on this progress during 2012 and converting the near-misses into victories."
Allenby, who signed a new Glamorgan contract until the end of the 2012 season in January, scored 264 runs in 12 games at an average of 26.40 runs in Twenty 20 in 2010.
Glamorgan, who will be known as the Welsh Dragons in next season's one-day and T20 competition, have only twice qualified for the T20 knockout stages since the introduction of the lucrative competition in 2003.
Glamorgan, whose Swalec Stadium ground will host the T20 finals day in 2011, reached the semi-finals in 2004 and were quarter-finalists in 2008.
