Durham have handed England seamer Graham Onions a new four-year deal that ends in 2015.
Onions, 29, took 50 first-class wickets last season after recovering from a long-standing back injury, and received the county's Bowler of the Year award.
"After missing last season due to injury I am delighted with the way this season has gone," Onions said.
"I have had an amazing amount of support from my team mates and the backroom staff at Durham."
Onions has played eight Tests, taking 28 wickets at an average of 31.03. He has also played four one-day internationals.
Durham have also handed Barbados-born seamer Ruel Brathwaite a two-year extension, taking him to 2013.
The 26-year-old made six appearances in the County Championship, taking 22 wickets at 24.63, and topping the county's bowling averages for the season.
