Opener Karl Turner has signed a one-year deal with Nottinghamshire after impressing during a trial spell.
The 23-year-old joined in July and featured in the final five County Championship matches of last season.
"Karl showed some promise last season and we feel that he is a player who could develop given an opportunity," said director of cricket Mick Newell.
"We see him as an opener in four-day cricket and feel that he has the potential to make an impression."
Turner scored 185 for Nottinghamshire's second XI in July and finished the season with 64 and 42 in the final County fixture against Sussex at Trent Bridge.
