Saeed Ajmal claimed his 67th Test wicket as Pakistan cruised to victory

Saeed Ajmal claimed 5-68 as Pakistan won the second Test against Sri Lanka by nine wickets in Dubai.

A negative Sri Lanka were dismissed for just 257 in nearly 110 overs as they lost nine wickets on the fourth day.

Pakistan only needed 94 for victory and they picked up the required total in just over 24 overs on day four to go 1-0 up in the three-Test series.

An unbeaten 59 from Mohammad Hafeez and Azhar Ali's 29 helped them to victory with a day to spare.

Facing a 164-run deficit from the first innings, Sri Lanka started the fourth day on 88-1 before losing three wickets in the morning session to go into lunch on 115-4.

Kumar Sangakkara was first to go when he was lbw to Abdur Rehman for 30.

Ajmal took his first wicket when he hit Mahela Jayawardene's leg stump, before Tillakaratne Dilshan departed for just three before lunch.

Tharanga Paranavitana managed 72 before edging a ball from Ajmal soon after the interval.

Kaushal Silva was then caught by Ajmal and when Dhammika Prasad fell for 33, bowled by Rehman in the over after tea, Sri Lanka were in trouble.

Angelo Mathews tried to rescue the innings with an unbeaten 52, but Ajmal soon removed the tail to complete his five-wicket haul.

Pakistan knocked off their target with the help of Hafeez's 59 from 64 balls.

Taufeeq Umar was bowled by Rangana Herath for one, but Azhar Ali added 29 to seal victory.

The final Test starts in Sharjah on Thursday.
