Glamorgan's new signing Marcus North suffers injury

Glamorgan's new overseas batsman Marcus North is set to miss the rest of Western Australia's season.

The 32-year-old has had surgery on injured tendons after he damaged a finger in his right hand while fielding.

He will miss the rest of Western Australia's season and said: "It's devastating not to have the opportunity to play the rest of the season."

North signed on a two-year deal from the start of the 2012 season.

Glamorgan confirmed in January they would be without North's services for the opening month of the season.

The Welsh county said the Australian will not join up with the squad until late April/early May as his wife is expecting their second child.

Glamorgan are hoping to sign the Australian all-rounder Moises Henriques for the early part of the season to deputise for North.

However hopes last season's captain Alviro Petersen would return to Wales were dashed when the South African signed for Essex.
