Paceman Charlie Shreck is aiming to become Kent's talisman with the ball, ahead of his first full season at the St Lawrence Ground.
The 34-year-old told BBC Radio Kent: "I'd like to be able to effectively lead the bowling attack.
"I'd like to take that on my shoulders but I know there are other bowlers that want to do the same thing."
Shreck, who spent nine seasons at Nottinghamshire, played one game for Kent on loan last season.
Shreck, who has taken more than 400 wickets in all forms of the game since leaving his native Cornwall for Trent Bridge in 2003, said: "It's going to be nice to force myself into the team, stay there and hopefully have a Championship rush.
"It's going to be nice to hear a different voice, a different opinion and a different way of doing things. It's refreshing."
