Devon's director of cricket Roger Newman says the weather was to blame for his side's five-wicket loss at Wiltshire in the MCCA Trophy.
Batting first, Devon hit 258-9 as Rob Woodman (52) and Rob Holman (39) put on 108 for the first wicket and Matt Thompson scored 53.
In a rain-affected reply, Devon failed to cope with the damp conditions.
Joe Breet scored 83 and Ed Kilbee got 73 as Wiltshire got to 259 with an over to spare at Corsham.
"I'm not disappointed with the performance, the performance was outstanding," Newman told BBC Sport.
"Unfortunately circumstances meant it was made more difficult because of the weather.
"There were lots of rain stoppages, a wet ball, the outfield was very wet and it was very difficult for us to bowl in those circumstances and it made the difference in the end."
