Wiltshire-Herefordshire: Visitors suffer two-day defeat

Herefordshire suffered a two-day innings defeat in their penultimate Minor Counties Championship game of the season against Wiltshire at Salisbury.

Replying to Wiltshire's 294 on Sunday, the visitors were bowled out for just 102, Tahir Afridi taking 6-35.

Following on, Herefordshire had to face six overs before the close and found themselves 20-3 second time around.

But they failed to recover on Monday morning, being bowled out for just 94 to lose by an innings and 98 runs.

Only opener David Exall, fifth out for 38, offered any lasting first innings resistance.

And, when they batted again, Charlie Walker, with a round 50, was the only man to make double figures.

Herefordshire are still looking for their first win of 2012, after three rain-affected draws prior to successive defeats by Oxfordshire and now Wiltshire.

They round off their season with a trip to Cheshire, at Chester Boughton Hall, on 19 August.
