England versus Australia.Wishing batters, bowlers and fielders a memorable summit clash.Dr. Cajetan Coelho
Oh the irony of someone who has Exeter City as their moniker talking about only supporting high quality sport. Hopefully England can repeat their performance in the group stages against the Aussies in the final, if they keep their eye on the ball (excuse the pun) they should bring home the trophy. Go for it ladies!
sorry Wilber, I spelt your name wrong, but I still agree with you.
The usual negative comments about the Ladies cricket team. Most likely from men who either can't play the game or have never played but if did so would not make the women's team.Good luck ladies.
Too right Bernard, @ Exeter city hasn't got a clue bout cricket full stop. The standards and profile of women's cricket are rising steadily, reflected in the staging of the two tournaments concurrently with the semis and final played on the same day at the same venue.C'mon England!!
How much I agree with Wilbur. Both cricket and golf are sports where the women can play with finese and grace. England women's cricket team play as a tream and for one another. Most of the bowlers are excellent batsman as well (Laura Marsh, Danni Wyatt to name but two). Sarah Taylor is not only an excellent batsman but a superb wicket-keeper also. I wish them every succes in the final.
One day, just one day, the comments on a story will actually reflect the theme. Good luck to the ladies and hope you can bring the cup home with you. (and in case you're wondering, I'm a fella who likes his sport at ALL levels).
@EXETER CITYwhat are you some old hack ! What level of cricket have you ever played at ?Certainly not a high level given the part of the country you come from ?Cricket unlike football is a sport that women can play to a high standard. It is NOT a sport that requires brute strength but finesse and grace in which women abound .Women's football is a waste of space
The English women's T20 team (and thinking about it.: their Test side too) would prob beat the current men's team.
@ExeterCityFemale's haven't got the same level of power or fitness. It's like slagging off female 100m runners saying they are no where near Usain Bolt's times. Get a life mate.
Take today's run chase by the Windies Women. They were chasing like 116? Dot ball after Dot ball. They were scared of the ball and the Australian bowling was hardly hostile! It was a total joke and that was in the semi Final of a major tournament! I will get no joy whatsoever if England win tomorrow as it is a Sport that has been played at a very low standard.
I assume you are a Woman? Both in the Cricket and Football, Women are so far behind as far as Skill, technique, Power etc. I can't be bothered to start on how far behind the Men's game the Women are. You best enjoy the Charade that is served up as Women's Cricket and the Football equivalent as it really isn't 'Sport' as I know it.
Re 5 Exeter City.Yep, women's football lacks so much that the men's game has - spitting, roughing up the ref, diving, obscene chanting, racism and tweet-mania. And if you think the lamentable performace of the men in this tournament is better than the skilled and disciplined performance of the women's team, then think again.
Such a shame that Women's Cricket is about as far behind the men's version as in the Football. Just not worth watching and an embarassment to both Games.
Cut the sexist nonsense @3. Good luck England ladies, show the men how it's done, an English win'd be a great final hurrah for an amazing summer for British sport. I do like how this tournament is showcasing women's cricket, hopefully it'll get even more girls and women playing the game.
This comment was removed because it broke the house rules. Explain
West Indies left it far too late to put their foot down, they looked dead and buried to me even before the 5th wicket partnership was broken. I expect a close final. Definitely backing England to win it though.
