Old Victorians and Farmers get Premier League wins

Old Victorians and Farmers began the Jersey cricket Premier League season with wins.

OVs, who won the title from 2009-2011, beat St Ouen by three wickets, while Farmers were four-wicket winners over Sporting Club Francais.

St Ouen's Andy Dewhurst hit the weekend's top score with 95 as the parish side hit 176-9 off 45 overs.

OVs reached their target in 39.3 overs as Johnny Gough and Tom Minty both got 33 and Bobby Minty hit 28 not out.

At the Farmers' Field the home side won the toss and put Sporting Club in to bat.

Jamie Brewster hit 88, including 11 fours and one six, while Ben Beeley got 51 as the visitors were bowled out for 178 with Rhys Palmer claiming 4-28.

In reply Farmers reached 182-6 in 33 overs as Tom Perchard scored 54.

Bradley Vautier took 4-31 and Beeley got the other two Farmers scalps.
