Mixed results for Jersey in their matches with the MCC

Dean Morrison

Jersey ended their two-match series with the MCC with a win and a defeat as they prepare for their summer international tournaments.

Jersey lost a 50-over game by two wickets before bouncing back to win a Twenty20 match by seven wickets ahead of July's European T20 championship.

Opener Dean Morrison hit 99 as Jersey scored 234-9 in their 50-over game.

But the MCC timed their run-chase well, getting the winning runs off the final ball as Paul Connolly took 4-57.

In the Twenty20 game at Farmers' Field, Jersey won the toss and put the MCC into bat, with opener Wake getting 44 runs off 42 balls as his side scored 144-5.

In reply, Jersey reached their target with two-and-a-half overs to spare. Andy Dewhurst scored 41 and Tom Minty scored 30 not out.

Jersey will in July, with a place in the global qualifying round of the Twenty20 World Cup at stake, before later in the month.
