Stupid idea, the CC is not tv material,
121 - lose the 50 overs. 40 overs is just right for a sunday afternoon, Squeeze in a T20 for those that prefer that format, but drop the 50 over format for me.120 - Manchester isn't the only place it rains - I've sat under brollies at grounds across England. A 'weather draw' frustrates no matter where.
Get rid of either 50 over or 40 over matches! It is pointless having both of those formats, you only need one or the other.
@115 NorthernApe, madness to whinge about draws with so many days play rained off in Manchester
@115. Would that be the same Lancashire who had trouble completing games, while playing at Old Trafford, due to something called rain?
A bad move for the game and could lead to some kind of franchise scheme happening in the future. I love county cricket, but only get to go to 2 or 3 days a year like many others. It is however, compared to domestic competitions in other countries, well run. We have to protect the counties and at the same time play higher quality, meaningful cricket. By the way Tim May seems to have concerns too!!
Whatever decision is reached about the future of English cricket, we can be sure that in a year's time the ECB will be proposing something different.
I thought the orginal excuse for cutting down the fixtures years ago was that it was affecting the England team, now that it doesnt because of the central contracts what is the problem? They have 6 and a half months off a year so can hardly complain of burnout. The meaningless games are the CB40's as only one team qualifies from each group rendering most of the later games dead rubbers.
Bonkers! I've not missed a Lancs game in 4 years....now I have to pay a fortune to go and watch an inevitable draw (dream batting wickets). I don't think so.93.PSB808 - You are a maniac.
Why do people who don't like T20 claim that nobody likes it and counties only do it for the money. They only get extra money because more people attend it than championship games. It's selfish members killing county cricket not the ECB. Our summer sport is not there just to please the 30 odd people who can attend county games.
@95. What an intelligent response - not! And I'm no tree-hugger, let me assure you. Now who's claiming to know things? ;)
Is this a joke?Solution for less of the best type of Cricket!County Championship could be three divisions of 7 if Ireland, Scotland and Holland where added. That would bring the games down to 12 call it the European Cricket league but please play them here?
At the moment the 2 divisions are made up of 9 teams . this leaves one team not playing a fixture most weeks . My solution would be for Division 1 to have 8 teams and division 2 have 10 teams . with only one team being promoted and one relegated . and eventually the bottom 2 teams of division 2 being relegated to the minor counties .
