162 One thing is for sure 'BlythSpartan', you aren't from Blyth.
Cliche world - he deserves criticism for the following:"I certainly don't want to start pointing fingers. The buck stops with me, and I was very clearly aware of that."I've got to set the standards. If things go wrong on your watch, you certainly pay the price. It's a tough pill to swallow but that's ultimately what I signed up for.
"we have the best all-round bowling attack in world cricket."Sorry Mickey wrong decade mate.
Not too sure why a nation with so much cricket history and expertise plumped for a South African in the first place.I understand why the English have foreigners running the show, but Aussies are proud.Good to see another Aussie in charge or not...they may just win the Ashes.
Arthur did a bit of a Mancini, he probably would have turned it round for Australia, but managed to upset his players, the fans and the management and made embarrassing comments to the press. It was easier for all concerned to just wipe the slate and start again. I can guarantee the Aussies will feel more relaxed going into the ashes now. I'm not sure the disciplinarian approach was really working
At the moment England aren't setting the world on fire. They've lost their fighting spirit, at least with the batting line-up. The Aussies will run us close, mark my words.
Lehmann may not be considered a true Aussie great outside of Yorkshire but this is a great move by Australia. At least they didn't swoop for Gillespie!
Micky Arthur was probably sacked for embarrasing the Aussies by claiming they have the best bowling attack in the worldI am slightly worried at just how much bad press the Aussies are getting though. England are by no means perfect and although I expect them to win, I don't think it'll be as easy as everyone is making out
And to complete the shanbles that is Cricket Australia:1st Test Clarke calls wrong, bends down to pick the coin up, his back locks and he is out of the test and series...
Bad news for England Arthur is an abysmal coach, also booted out by South Africa. He always considered gamesmanship first and tactics and technique 2nd. Darren Lehmann is a good choice who will be far better.
I loved every minute of the 2005 series despite us losing. It sits as one of the most enjoyable test series I have ever watched. Disappointment faded, a wonderful memory remained. I hope this series is a great fight too, as a fan surely that makes for the most exciting spectacle. I think a few English fans overestimate the extent to which Aussie fans are in despair about the prospect of a loss....
Lehman has been developing a decent reputation as a coach. I don't think he should be underestimated. He hasn't got very long to work with them but surely he will have a decent go at galvanising them at least.
@148England don't choke in proper cricket. Probably wouldn't have done yesterday either but for a shocking TMO decision.
All that accountability he was coaching caught up with him.
At least now Arthur will have time to go through his DVD collection and put them back in the right boxes...
