Jersey finish fourth at U19 event after defeat

Rhys Palmer flicks the ball to leg side

Jersey Under-19s finished fourth in the table at the qualifying event for the age-group World Cup in Holland, after a final-match defeat by Denmark.

The 49-run victory moved Denmark off the foot of the table.

Denmark opener Anders Bulow made a patient 43, as his side totalled 191-9 from their 50 overs.

Jersey's reply of 142 owed much to Stephen Le Maistre's 47 - featuring no boundaries at all - but few of his team-mates contributed with the bat.

Jonty Jenner had his first failure of the tournament by being dismissed for two.
