Irish aiming to win Twenty20 qualifiers

Ireland captain William Porterfield says his team are determined to win the upcoming World Twenty20 qualifying tournament in the United Arab Emirates even though a top-six finish will be enough to earn a spot in Bangladesh next Spring.

Porterfield showed he was in good form as he hit an unbeaten 75 to help guide the Irish to victory over the Netherlands in their latest warm-up game in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.

"It was nice to spend a bit of time in the middle and see it home as well," said the Ireland skipper.

Ireland's final warm-up game sees them face Papua New Guinea on Wednesday before Friday's tournament opener against highly-rated Namibia.
