699.Sid I'd have to disagree with you there Sid. I think there is a good chance England will play 2 spinners. Swann is world class and Monty has a great record at the WACA. Seems silly to not play them, especially if the Freemantle breeze is there to help float the ball back in the left handers.

@696 I quite like Bresnan - his performance against India a couple of years back changed my mind on him. He'll be included at some point or he wouldn't have been drafted in the squad a) if he wasn't fully fit and b) if he wasn't a serious contender to play. We'll see with him if I'm honest and my benchmark for him will be his performance compared with Siddle - possibly Harris for that matter.
@catpuncherI agree with Ballance for Stokes.I agree with Bresnan for SwannI agree with Finn for Panesar. Thanks Catpuncher
694.Sid Sorry, what was that? I was reading your comment but it disappeared while I was doing it. Anyway, back to cricket chat. What is your opinion on Brezzy...is he fully fit, would you play him? Personally, I don't believe he is a game changer.
Bring in Ballance for StokesBring in Bresnan for SwannRetain Finn for Panesarand Anybody for Cook
690.Sid Your suggestion seems extremely odd to me considering root just scored 80+ batting at 3. Surely we should be trying to get the best out of our players? I'm beginning to think you might be a secret Aussie supporter as all your suggestions so far appear to be to the detriment of England.
I'd be tempted to keep Root at 3 to keep some semblance of consistency there not only at 3 but with Root himself. He isn't yet an opener and currently has far too much to do at 6 and even with enough runs on the board I'm not convinced he'll be very good down the order. It's bad enough the changes we'll have to make but we can't make rash or drastic ones. This is just as damning as not making any!
@689 BP, I agree. Root played well at 3 at Adelaide but he's already been moved around so much and Bell is perfect for number 3 in the long term so he should be there now. We need as much long term stability at the top of the order as possible so give it to Bell!
