Essex opener Jaik Mickleburgh signs one-year contract extension
Essex opener Jaik Mickleburgh has signed a one-year contract extension tying him to the county until 2015.
"I'm delighted Jaik has signed a contract extension after the season he had," said coach Paul Grayson.
"I believe he can become a pivotal player in the batting line-up in 2014.
"He fully deserved his county cap at the end of the season, which was capped off with a string of impressive performances such as his superb double century against Leicestershire."
Mickleburgh, 23, hit a career-best 243 in that game against Leicestershire at Chelmsford in July. close to a third of his season's Championship haul of 829 in 13 matches.
He has now made 3,268 first-class runs for Essex at 29.98 in his six seasons in the county game.
"I'm delighted to sign a one-year extension to my current contract," said Mickelburgh.
"It was a huge honour to be capped last season and I will continue to work hard to bring trophies to Essex."
