The first day of Division One leaders Middlesex's County Championship match against Sussex was completely washed out by rain at Northwood.
Middlesex, who have won all three of their previous home Championship games this season, are hoping to extend their lead over second-placed Somerset.
But the adverse weather meant the covers never came off on day one, and it was abandoned at 15:45 BST.
Play is scheduled to resume at 11:00 BST on Tuesday.
BBC London 94.9's Kevin Hand:
"The umpires inspected on a number of occasions only to be frustrated by further showers, and the captains didn't even get close to the toss at any stage.
"The forecast for the week isn't promising, which will frustrate two of the title contenders."
