Gloucestershire had the better of day one against Glamorgan, with the highlight a second Championship century of the season for Hamish Marshall.

Michael Hogan (3-39) got rid of Chris Dent for two in the sixth over, but Will Tavare (77) gave the home side's first innings some foundation.

Marshall (109) hit one six and seven fours and shared a 145-run fourth-wicket stand with Ian Cockbain (51).

Glamorgan took two wickets late in the day as the hosts closed on 308-5.
