Cornwall fell agonisingly short of securing their second Minor Counties Championship win of the season as they drew with Wales at Truro.
The Duchy needed 291 from 51 overs to win, but fell five runs short as they ended the day on 286-9.
Jake Libby hit 112 while Christian Purchase struck eight sixes on his way to 101 from 61 balls, as the duo put on 178 for the third wicket.
Cornwall are fifth in the Western Division, nine points behind Wales.
After Neil Ivamy took 4-69 to help Cornwall restrict Wales to 235 all out in their first innings, their batsmen failed to shine as they were bowled out for 142, with only Purchase (42) and Alex Smeeth (37) troubling the scorers.
Wales declared on 197-9 in reply as Ivamy again shone with the ball, taking 5-91.
But the target of 291 proved just too much for Cornwall, who face Shropshire in St Austell in their next game on 20 July.
