Derbyshire and Essex collected a point each as rain washed out their One-Day Cup game in Derby without any play.
The downpour left puddles of water on the outfield at the County Ground.
Umpires Nigel Cowley and Peter Willey made a cursory inspection at the scheduled start time of 10:30 BST and called the game off.
Both teams are scheduled to play their next games on Monday, with Derbyshire away at Northants and Essex travelling north to meet Yorkshire at Scarborough.
