All-rounder Lewis Gregory has signed a contract extension at Somerset, while four have earned new deals at Taunton.

Gregory, 22, has played 26 first-class matches for the county and has now committed until 2016.

Fellow academy graduates Alex Barrow and James Regan have been handed deals, along with spinner Max Waller and ex-Middlesex all-rounder Josh Davey.

Meanwhile, high performance director Andy Hurry is to leave the club to take up a role with England.

Former coach Hurry has been named as the head of the England development programme and will leave Taunton after 13 years.

Barrow, 22, has been used as cover behind the stumps this season, in the absence of the injured Craig Kieswetter, while also averaging 43.60 with the bat in Division One.

Regan, 20, and Davey, 23, have been part of the Somerset second XI set-up this season, while Waller, 26, impressed by taking 10 wickets in the T20 Blast.

Gregory has scored 296 runs in the County Championship this term, while also taking 43 wickets - including a career-best 11-122 against Northants in July.
