Somerset: Alfonso Thomas breaks ankle in golfing accident
Somerset pace bowler Alfonso Thomas has suffered a broken ankle in a freak accident while playing golf.
The 37-year-old South African, who took 53 Championship wickets in 2014, is recovering after undergoing surgery.
"It is really unfortunate news for Alfonso and we wish him a speedy recovery," director of cricket Matthew Maynard told the club website.
"These things do happen. We now need to focus on his rehabilitation and getting him fit to play for next season."
In June, Thomas became the first Somerset bowler ever to take four wickets in four balls during a Division One victory over Sussex at Taunton.
