Hampshire have signed all-rounder Gareth Berg for the 2015 season following his release by Middlesex.

Berg spent seven years at Lord's but only played one game last summer after undergoing shoulder surgery.

The 34-year-old scored over 4,700 runs for Middlesex in all formats of the game and took 221 wickets for the club.

"This is massive fresh start for me. I've got that hunger again to perform and do well for the club," he told BBC Radio Solent.

"I've worked really hard on getting my fitness back and obviously diet played a massive role too."

The county's director of cricket Giles White told the club websiteexternal-link: "Gareth is the type of player that can influence games with both bat and ball and he will add balance and experience to the squad."

Hampshire begin the summer with a home Championship Division One game against Sussex on 12 April.
