Rain meant that no play was possible on the first day between Northants and Kent at Wantage Road.
The start of play was delayed from 12:00 BST to 14:15 BST but persistent rainfall meant this passed without the teams entering the field.
A final pitch inspection took place at 16:30 BST and it was decided no play would be possible shortly afterwards.
Kent will be hoping for an improved forecast on Sunday as they look to move off the bottom of Division Two.
