Nottinghamshire captain Chris Read admits his team need to improve their fielding, as it continues to cost them the chance of vital points.

Notts drew their latest County Championship match against Middlesex after several rain interruptions.

"We appreciate that our fielding is not up to scratch really, it impacts us in four-day cricket where you need to get 20 wickets," said Read.

"It's something that we're aware of and we're working hard to fix."

Notts are unbeaten in their last two Championship matches following two successive defeats and 36-year-old Read told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It's the start of building some momentum that we'll take forward into the latter part of the season."

The Division One side currently sit on 103 points in sixth place in the table after 10 matches, but they are only one point above the relegation zone.
