Devon lost to Cheshire by nine runs in the semi-finals of the inaugural Minor Counties Twenty20 Championship.

Batting first at Banbury, Cheshire made 165-7 with Lee Dixon hitting 51 off 31 balls before he became one of bowler Charlie Miles's two victims.

In reply Devon struggled, losing two wickets in two balls as they fell to 69-3 halfway through their innings.

Matthew Thompson hit 69 off 31 balls as he tried to rally the side in the second half of the innings.

Thompson was one of just three Devon players to make double figures as they ended on 156-8 with Cheshire's Richard Moore taking 3-29.

Cheshire went on to win the title as they crushed Oxfordshire in the final - winning by 119 runs.
