Minor Counties: Cornwall are beaten by Oxfordshire

Cricket

Cornwall's hopes of winning the Minor Counties Western Division title have taken a huge blow after they lost by 266 runs to rivals Oxfordshire.

Needing an unlikely 406 runs to win at Truro the home side were bowled out for 140, with Jake Libby top-scoring on 49.

Oxfordshire ended their second innings on 294-9 declared as Cornwall's Brad Wadlan took 5-77 as Harvey Eltham claimed five Cornish wickets for 31.

Oxfordshire are now 17 points clear of Cornwall, having been three behind.

It means Cornwall must heavily beat Wales in their final game and hope Oxfordshire are similarly beaten at Wiltshire if they are to repeat their solitary Minor Counties title success of 2012.
