Aadil Ali's career-best 80 and fine contributions from the lower order put Leicestershire in a strong position against Gloucestershire at Grace Road.

Resuming day two on 127-2, the hosts fell to 201-6 before Ali began the fight back with Wayne White (38).

The 20-year-old also shared a ninth-wicket stand of 85 with Ben Raine (51) as Leicestershire were all out for 415.

Gloucestershire then survived 6.5 overs in fading light to reach 22-0 at the close of play.

Grace Road good again for Leicestershire
If Leicestershire win, it will be the first time since 2011 that they have managed to win consecutive home games.

Ali, who only made his first-class debut in July, surpassed his previous best of 42 and struck seven fours and a six in his three-and-a-half hour knock.

Raine's more attacking innings contained nine boundaries and came off 71 balls before he was last man out to the part-time medium pace of Hamish Marshall (3-30).

Bad light brought an early end to proceedings, but Leicestershire will be looking for quick wickets on day three to boost their chances of a third Championship win of the season.
