sometimes I wonder how much bayliss actually has to do with this England team, it seems like he is just getting swept in the wind of strauss, farbrace and Fraser
Look at the rest of the international sides and you see that the core of the sides play in all the formats. Why is England the only side that does not follow this pattern. Do our top players in Test cricket think it is beneath them to play all formats. As for the claim that they are tired after a long tour, this does not seem to affect other sides, perhaps they are simply not fit.
One thing is for sure Australia are best team in ALL formats. Despite losing so many players.
The arrogance of the majority of the England players of all formats begins at under 9s. Once a boy is in a county set up it is almost impossible to get out, likewise it's almost impossible to get in after 9. By 15 most have a swagger that their talents don't justify.
@64 tailed off in the test seies too once they had won it. Disappointing indeed, took the shine off a good series win.
England managed a terrific victory in the Test series, but the way their form in the limited overs matches tailed off was disappointing. My player ratings for the Test series in South Africa: Hales, Woakes 5; Cook, Taylor, Moeen, Anderson 6; Compton 7; Finn 8; Root, Stokes, Bairstow, Broad 9...
It's silly and childish that the best T20 player in the world is not picked for the England team. The voting on comment 15 shows a divide in opinion on this and so the selectors should take note and not just dismiss the issue. He is our best player and should play. Imagine a middle order of Root, KP, Buttler and Stokes.
The last KP fan I knew was a nut cracker!
A lot of negative comments from the boo brigade. Reality is if Rashid had held a catch and Topley bowled a decent last over the headlines would be blowing England's trumpet.Fine margines and a lot of IF's. I'd rather Bayliss and co worked on the mental aspects of how to hold your nerve at the key moments. There's enough talent and good mix. Just need to express it at the right time.
I forced myself to watch this tripe just to make the comparison. England lost because of a series of very unlucky incidents at the end of their innings followed by fielding a very second rate attack against Amla and AB de V.Don't give a monkeys, we won the test series.
Having 6 all rounders is no use if they are 'ok' at both roles, but not brilliant at either. Eg Billings is the spare keeper who got the nod over proven T20 batsman Vince.
47 U157"Anglophone is a better nic than Alistair cook I suppose."You got me there. Does that mean something or is it a typo? This is your routine schtick. You're on the rugby boards constantly wondering why England won't pick players who've made themselves ineligible for financial gain. KP has put so many backs up he ain't coming back. He's 35 now...he's yesterdays man!
Our batting looks good, had we used our allocation of overs we would have won the 1 dayers comfortably. Bowling however is a different matter. We don't have wicket takers, or people who can exercise their skills at crucial times. Invariably we bowl too short, which with modern equipment opens up all of the field to score in. Not sure what Jordan adds to either team
If that was us playing our "best team" then God help us when we play in the World T20 in India! At least we have Buttler - our one true world class player - but we can't expect him to carry the team.I have no idea what Jordan is doing in the team and can only assume that he will be the one of those dropped when Finn is fit and we drop a trundler for an extra spinner.
Test matches is cricket. The rest is nothing.
Speaking as a Saffer, England looked tired at the end of a long tour. You were there for the taking yesterday, and also mentally shot after the match on Friday.I reckon too that after Broad, Anderson and Finn, your bowling is a bit limited. Once Quinton de Kock showed our boys the way, we looked like we were always going to score plenty.
Before everyone hets on the KP bandwagon, they should take a close look at the Big Bash and Ramslam.Despite the great presentation, the actual standard isn't that good. Most of the players are worse than the "muppet" standard that KP described county players,or over the hill mercenaries. The best players were playing in the numerous test series around the world
2. U15741547"KP keeps going to foreign countries and reaching T20 finals...."In one sentence you have encapsulated why KP is unsuited to playing in an international team. His loyalty is to KPHis loyalty is to $He is incapable of sticking to one teamNo team can put up with him for any length of time.Glad we are rid of him.
as far as I can see there only fault is that they cant tell the difference between aggressive and reckless... once they can do that they might actually be quite good at short form cricket
