Darren Stevens hit an unbeaten 121 as Kent dominated Gloucestershire on day two at Bristol to take a 125-run lead.

Kent lost Sean Dickson for a duck in the first over, with Joe Denly also falling cheaply to leave them 28-2.

However, Daniel Bell-Drummond (65) was a steady presence at the crease before Stevens and Sam Billings (86 not out) shared a stand of 205 to stumps.

All-rounder Stevens, 40, said earlier this week he wanted to play on next season at Canterbury.

He hit two sixes and 18 fours and his partnership with Billings is only 13 runs short of the county's fifth-wicket record against Gloucester, set by Les Ames and Bryan Valentien at Folkestone in 1933.
