Not a County follower really - so what has happened to Haseeb Hameed, I thought he did well before injury wasn't it?
Re my @156...du Plessis was happy at losing the toss. I suspect right now he's very glad not to have been put in, & I bet Root & Bayliss wish they'd decided to field first. The team's very heavily managed nowadays (Bayliss et al do a lot of what the Captain traditionally does) so you'd think decisionmaking had improved - but if this knackered old clubbie could see they should have bowled...
Beaconsfield Blade @172As has been done to death elsewhere in this and many previous HYS...Good figures in a T20, when the batsmen are playing reckless shots and slogging wildly at anything, do not suggest anything about the ability to deliver in a Test Match.Rashid has had 10 Tests across the winter and hasn't really set the place alight.
Who is this Jennings??? I've never seen him bat yet, thought he was the opener??
@, 181, U13716022,I agree!, England have got a Middle Order well Capable of Upping the Scoring Rate when needed!,I also Agree about Jennings & Ballance no matter what KJ scores in the 2nd Innings, I think they both need to be dropped so as not to develop any permanent Mental Scars!, Stoneman must be tried in the Next Test!, it's a no Brainer!, But with these Selectors!.
Solid from Cook & Westley. Just what's needed instead of this nonsense, champagne, aggressive brand of cricket garbage.Jennings though, oh dear. His technique, like Ballance is awful.
@160. Counties that just exist in the championship? Bit unfair to the current D1 leaders and D2 champions.
For all those stating Stoneman should have opened against SA especially as it's his home ground, your sentiments are fully justified!!!
Quack, quack Jennings. Ta ta, don't call us we'll call you.
Typical Jennings,out for a duck,totally useless.
Just seen the team for the Oval today. Madness to have 3 debutants in such an important test, less than 5 months before the Ashes. Lambs to the slaughter I'm afraid.
Strange comments about county and North / South bias on selection. There are no Kent players in squad, two from Middlesex (County Champions) and two from Essex (Div 2 champions and Div 1 leaders). There are 7 players in squad from Yorkshire, Lancashire, Durham and Nottinghamshire.
@166 No Kent players in the Test squad and haven't been for some time. Hoping Bell-Drummond gets considered in the future, but hasn't had a great season so far. Just heard that Malan is going to play as well. Good luck to all the debutants.
Anybody who watched the T20 last night on Sky will wonder why Rashid isn't playing for England, though being selfish I'm really glad he's available to play for Yorks.
Which Kent players are in the squad?
Really need Wood fit for the ashes on fast pitches like the WACCA, so he needs to get his injuries sorted.Looking forward to this been a really good Test series this against the Saffers do not think anyone knows what is going to happen after first two tests.
