461 and 462 I agree, I do think that the selectors needs to be changed. A lot of strategic errors are being made in choosing teams, ie making your best batsman captain too soon, in not getting rid of Cook. In picking the wrong bowling mix. #get rid of the selectors now.
I dont think Quitter Swann has a leg to stand on here to criticise Cook and Root. Reality is that you dont give your best young batsman the big role as it immediately curtails his batting.
England have mad an ordinary team look like supermen...worst offenders as follows...COOK...ROOT....ALI..BROAD...Hang your heads in shame....if only you had put in half the effort that the travelling supporters have..we would still be in with a chance.RANT OVER (for now)
Australia win the Ashes 🎉🎉🎉
Not long now...
Gutless with a lack of staying ability from our batsman. Has been a bane for England for a long timeOverly reliant on Jimmy.Embarrassed
"England face defeat........"You didn't have to be Mystic Meg to see that one coming.Watching England play is like watching a car crash in slow motion.Predictable and inevitable outcome. England are simply not good enough and that needs to be addressed from the top down before we can ever hope to improve from the current embarrassing level of performance.
Why are we still talking about saving Ashes if the rain saves England here. If rain saves them in this Test, they'll almost certainly still lose last two unless Nature intervenes again. Our top and lower order don't cope with Australian bowling & England's attack seems incapable of bothering their batsmen enough to get near 20 wickets. Poor selection and wishful thinking deserve & achieve nothing.
"We're still fighting", "We have the quality" etc. All crass comments by one or more English player throughout the series. Why can't they own up and admit that they are mentally shot and not up to the task? Cook should retire, Vince, Broad and Moeen dropped. I don't think Root has helped himself with the over-the-top funky fields and poor decision making. Anyone want my Day 2 ticket for Sydney?
Don't give up on JR as captain, presently he's up the creek in a barbed-wire canoe and no paddle. His leading run-scorer isn't scoring.Apart from JA the bowling unit is ineffectual.Of course the pressure's got to him,it would affect anybody but he's still a young man who can learn and benefit long-term from a bad situation that's been dumped on him by those in charge who will remain blameless.
Randy,Thanks for the weather forecast, but we probably need all but the last hour to be washed out to get to Christmas still holding the Ashes Please keep us updated if possible.
Really heavy rain this morning in Perth, really strong winds and cold, like 17c. This is worse than we get in Winter! Thanks travelling English fans for bringing your summer with you.You can check the radar and weather for Perth by visiting http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDR703.loop.shtmlEngland are a good chance of lasting the day, play won't start before lunch imo.
@462 Completely agree but then again they will make a scapegoat of the player most out of form to get themselves out of hole so Cook is the one on the chopping block. I believe the selectors are the same people who picked the last Ashes squad that lost 5-0. We picked a squad with a bowling attack that is not suited to Aussie wickets and our batsman seemed to hate fast bowling
After day 1 they had england to win at 44% and I said england to get out, aussie to put on 650 and england to struggle to make aussies bat again. Lots of downs on the comment. Now england need 130 odd with 6 wickets to make aussie bat again and the england win percentage is 0%. Looks like I was right.
This tour is just synonymous with the all too familiar tales of England batting collapses and bowlers who lack the pace to trouble the Aussie batsmen. England were doomed the moment the squad was announced. Selectors and coaches have a lot to answer for.
England can only pick from what's available, and there aren't any fast bowlers available at the moment. Would love to see Mark Wood back in the side, but he can't be rushed back. Jamie Overton's another option, and if he can avoid injury next season, should come into the reckoning.
